This is my adorable grandpa and grandma Burroughs. They are my mom’s parents. This picture was taken at my parents house last year during Christmas (obviously the santa hat and decorations kind of gives that away). I love my grandparents very much. I wouldnt be where I am without them! My grandpa turned 89 this year. He still drives his tractor all around the fields dragging up dead trees and anything else that doesnt belong in the pasture. Him and my uncle Walter, who is 92, still talk every night on the phone at 9:00 on the dot and spend a lot of their free time fixing their gardens and doing lots of things that most people their age couldnt dream of doing! My grandma will be 85 this year. She isnt able to get around as good as she used to but her mind or her faith havent slowed down a bit. Both her and my grandpa are God fearing people and have done their best to instill that into my sisters and I since we were little. She was recently told by her Dr. that they spotted a new mass in her colon. Since she has a history of colon cancer they suspected that it was a new onset malignant tumor. They did blood work which also came back suspicious so her Dr. told her to have a PET scan done to check for more cancer cells. When she went for her PET scan a few days agao everything was gone! No tumors, no abnormal cells, no abnormal blood work…just perfect healthy things! Her Dr. said he could not explain what happened or where the tumor went. She told him that God can do anything and that she had a lot of people praying for her. Her Dr. is not a believing man but maybe by Gods great blessing on her he will have a little glimpse of our all powerful, gracious, and loving Lord! I know thats more than a picture description but I just love my grandparents so much and wanted to share a bit about them as well!!

Update on Me!

Its been a while since I’ve posted the happenings of my life so I thought I’d give some updates on a few things.

Update #1: My new furniture came in a little over a week ago and I LOVE it! Its even nicer and prettier than I thought. Now just about everything in my house matches except for the large, ugly rug in the dining room area. But, since large rugs cost large amounts of money, I’ll just have to deal with it for now. Here are a few pictures to show you. It looks better in person so you will all need to stop by and see it.

Update #2: My periodontist appointment didnt give me many answers. They told me that my teeth are farther up into my sinuses than most people so the pain and inflammation may be related to that, but they can not be sure. They took some more x-rays and told me that they saw something in my sinuses but could not be sure if it was another tumor forming or if I was just congested. They want me to see another specialist to find out for sure. Since I feel that I already have more specialist than anyone my age should have, and since I did have the beginning of a cold coming on, I decided to postpone another doctors appointment and am just praying that its not a new tumor. On the plus side though, they did tell me that the bone loss is not as bad as previously thought so I will not have to have my teeth removed just yet as long as I keep taking good care of them.

Update #3: I’ve been really bad at working out! I’m trying to get motivated and lose 10lbs by Thanksgiving. That may be a bit of a lofty goal but I’m going to give it a go. So, starting today (Monday Oct 27) I am going to walk 2 miles (or more) and do at least a 20 minute pilates video every day. It should take me an hour or less each day so I really don’t have any excuse to not do it. If it is raining than I plan on doing the hour long pilates video that I have. I will need everyones help to keep on it. So please, if you have facebook or email, keep on me and make sure that I have done my daily workout. I am known as being a bit of a slacker and procrastinator so you have my permission to be as blunt and pushy as need be to make sure that I am still going strong :)

Update #4: Adam and I hit a set back on the whole baby front and have had to postpone treatments for a few months. I don’t really want to discuss the set back at this point but please continue to pray for us. Due to the situation though Dr. Ratts has decided to wait until December or January to start any for of treatment.  I know she knows whats best for my body but its still frustrating. It just seems like everytime I get ready to begin treatments something happens and we are set back another few months. On the plus side of the situation (yes, I said plus side! I am a little more optimistic these days) whatever happens will not interfer with school. I graduate in May and should take my boards no later than July so if we are blessed with success soon than it wont be a problem. On the down side (I can’t help but have a little pessimissm still)  I’ve not had any treatments since May and my body is starting to fight against me. I was almost regular with my cycles lasting between 30-33 days, but the last few months they have went from 33 days being the longest to 43 being my new high and they are just growing in the length between. The longer I go between cycles the worse that means my hormones are reacting and the longer its going to take to get back to point A.  Which is another reason I want to lose 10lbs by Thanksgiving. Im hoping that if I am at my optimal weight and in good shape physically that my body will thank me for it and I will have an easier time getting going again.

Thanks for all of your prayers and for the motivation that I know you are all going to give me the next month! Now I need to hit the road and begin day one of my workout plan!!

Happy 26th Birthday

Happy Birthday to the most amazing husband! I tried to think of something sweet and sappy to write but Im not the best at putting my sappy thoughts into words. Im better at giving hugs and being sappy in person. I just want to tell you that I love you more today than the day I met you. I can not wait until we have a little one that looks just like you that will jump on the bed and scream “HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!!!”. But until then, I’ll be sure and have Piper help me in that…oh course he most likely will be attacking you but thats his way of showing you love. HAPPY 26th BIRTHDAY DAY! I LOVE YOU!!!!

Come have a seat

Adam and I are finally getting our new furniture. Its not the Pottery Barn stuff I had originally picked out but I liked it much better. We are getting a Broyhill couch, loveseat, and swivel rocker chair. I am beyond excited! It should be here the first week in November and everyone is invited to come have a seat! We dont have room for everything in our small living room so we are going to store the loveseat until we have a bigger place, which will hopefully be in a few years!

This is my couch. The loveseat will match it.

This is my chair. Adam said it kind of looks grandma-ish but I dont care! I think it looks country and it matches all of my other decor.

#1 I have to clean my house in order. Dishes first, then pile the dirty clothes, then clean the bathroom, then dust the furniture..first the wood then the electronics, then dust mop hardwood, then orange glow hardwood, then sweep the carpets…in this order; living room, rug, spare bedroom, kitchen, then fold clothes and put them away. If any one helps and it gets done out of order I wait until they leave and then start over. No one ever helps me :)

#2 When I am in charge of medication at work I have to write down everything I have to give and the time to give it. Each is placed in a certain spot on my paper (even though it is all listed out on the computer) I then highlight oral meds and accu checks in yellow, piggybacks in pink, respiratory treatments in green, Saline locks or IV restarts in blue, and important info in orange.

#3 It gives me anxiety attacks if my house is out of order and not picked up but the inside of my car looks like an atom bomb went off inside of it.

#4 I can not eat chicken that is not white meat and has not had the fat and veins picked out. If Im not sure if the chicken has been prepared this way I will pick at it until I get the “good” pieces out and then give the rest to Piper.

#5 I straighten my hair every day just to pull it up in a pony tail.

#6 I can not stand pimples, whether they are on me or someone else. It takes every fiber of self control I have to keep myself from reaching out and popping them on peoples faces…even random people!

Yes, I am a very anal person.

Specialist

For a 25 year old, I see more specialists and doctors than anyone I know! I have my family doctor, my gynecologist, my reproductive endocrinologist, my dentist, my oral surgeon, and now I have my periodontist. I had my routine dental appointment today and was referred to a periodontist. About 5 years ago I had a benign tumor removed from between two of my back teeth. The tumor kept coming back and wouldnt heal so in the end it ended up being surgically removed twice and cleaned out multiple times. My dentist has been keeping an eye on the bone lose and today they informed me that it has begun to worsen. My bone is at the absolute maximum lose that can still be treated without losing my teeth. So now Im seeing another specialist to save my teeth.  My insurance will pay 50% of whatever procedure they do so Im praying its nothing to invasive. They can not replace the bone that has already been lost but my dentist thinks if they put in a graft of my gums that it will help slow or even stop the progression.  The other option is that my tumor is starting to return and I will have to have more surgery which will probably end in me losing my back two teeth anyway. Its so frustrating because I am so anal about taking care of my teeth and always have been. I know people who could care less about their teeth, brush once a day if that, and still have all their teeth without problems. I go to my dentist twice a year like your supposed to, I brush my teeth twice a day if not more, I get my flouride treatments and my xrays, and yet I still have issues. I just dont understand how someone who cares so much about her health has ended up with so many issues requiring specialists. Ive decided that at the beginning of each year I should just send in my entire detuctable to my insurance companies because I end up paying for it all and then some every year anyway! I would love to go one month without seeing a doctor or two or three! Well now that Im good and frustrated/stressed Im going to clean my house. That seems to be one of the only things that can take my mind of all my issues and help me relax.

I promise

Last night on the VMA awards the band the Jonas Brothers were put down repeatedly for choosing to wearing a “promise ring” stating that they would remain pure until they were married. Here is a band who many young people, including my youngest sister, really look up to. What a great example for such a famous group to put out their for our youth, yet instead of society looking at it this way and the music industry applauding them for trying to change the image of pop culture they are putting them down and showing young children that its not “cool” to save yourself.  Granted, Jordan Sparks, another pop singer, stood up and said that there was nothing wrong with wearing a promise ring but then went onto say “because not everyone wants to be a slut”. Horray for her standing up for her peers but boo for the jab and unneeded comment at the end. Its not about whether you choose to sleep around or not its about choosing Christ and wanting to live a life of purity to glorify Him. Its about wanting to tell you husband or wife that they were on your minds from before you knew them and that you wanted them to know they were the a precious gift from God. Its heartbreaking and frustrating to me.  No wonder its becoming increasingly hard for our youth to know which way to go when they are getting such mixed messages. And no wonder its becoming increasingly hard for the youth who do choose to wait to keep that promise when they are constantly being bombarded about how wrong their decision is.  I pray that the Jonas Brothers are able to stand their ground in the face of adversity and continue to set such a strong example, for my sisters sake and for the sake of the millions of tweens and teens who listen to them!

NKOTB…IS BACK!!!

I just took a step by step back in time to when everything was the right stuff! I was 8 years old, sitting on my NKOTB bed spread (with the sheets and pillow cases) wearing my NKOTB tee shirt, playing with my NKOTB barbies and listening/singing to my NKOTB tape. I remember begging and pleading for my parents to let me go see them at the grandstand and being completely devastated when I was told no. I remember buying every back to school product that had their face on it. I remember turning the volume up in my moms van everytime their song came on the radio and then rolling down the window and jamming like I was the coolest person on the block!

The Kids have come out with a new CD and even though they aren’t the teeny boppers they used to be they are still the coolest!!  Im so excited about this amazing news that I can hardly contain myself! They sang a song from their new album and then Step by Step on The View this morning and I had to to sing along! I amaware that this probably makes me the biggest dork in the world but I dont care! I will buy the CD when it is released and I may just have to roll down my car window and jam or get my barbies out of my grandmas attic and have my own concert :)
